Baby Blues

I LOVE the Baby Blues cartoon strip. The cartoons make me laugh, because I can relate most of the time! It's fun to see the light-hearted side to the stressfulness of raising kids. This is a good illustration of about 7:30 at our house! Everyone loves when Daddy comes Home!

This one in particular makes me think of Jimmy. He is always wanting someone to come play with him. But the moment they even start looking at his stuff he freaks out. He will grab the toy and run to me and ask me to put his toy in time out so it stays safe. Then he wonders why his friends aren't playing with him.

All I can say is how much I would have loved to have one of those carts yesturday struggling through target!

And lastly...let's take a vote! How many of you have had a date like this??? I know we have!

bed time fun

what better way to go to bed, than a cool ride from daddy. with stairs a horsey ride doesn't work well, but a blanket over the shoulder does! and is a definte favorite of the kids. friday night after everyone was ready for bed, dave gave them each a ride to bed. check out the pics! we had lots of laughs!

box 'o fun!

it just amazes me how much fun can be had with a boring old box! i brought this box out of the garage on wednesday last week during preschool. we were talking about police officers, and the kids wanted to make a squad car. so we pulled out the markers and the creation began. as the day progressed jimmy told me the car was no longer a police car, now it was a race car as he made all sorts of zooming sounds. then addy came in and told me that no, it was a rocket ship and she was headed to outer space to see the moon. then a little while later timmy crawled in and flipped it over and crawled in. don't know what he thought it was other than fun, he was in a constant giggle! the laughing attracted jimmy and addy and then the 3 of them all crawled in and were laughing hysterically. it was lots of fun to watch! it's great to see with sooo many toys in the world a kid can still be entertained by the small and simple things.

ginger bread house

we did a ginger bread house! and it was actually a success! this is a big deal, see we attempted a halloween one, and it was beyond failure! but i figured out the problem...and fixed it this time! it was the frosting, it was way toooo thin to hold anything together. so this time we had THICK frosting, and it worked. jimmy, addy, and i did this one day last week while timmy was sleeping. the kids had lots of fun putting on all the candies. i love prepackaged projects, especially when they work out!

christmas time is wonderful!

on saturday we went out to fiesta texas for "holiday in the park". the park was decorated with LOTS of lights, and they even had the biggest christmas tree in all of texas. it looked beautiful and smelled GREAT! but it was almost sad to see such a huge tree that had grown for who knows how many years to be chopped down and put in a theme park for christmas. i guess it was the trees moment to shine...i wonder what will happen to it after christmas. it was dark, so the pictures are hard to make out, but to give you an idea: the picture of the whole tree was taken a far way back to get it all in the picture and the picture with the carolers, is them under the tree, check out the base of that tree! the kids had lots of fun, and even got to see santa! we all enjoyed the time together as a family.

i love free stuff!

so i got these new address labels and matching notepad in the mail the other day...and they are soooo COOL!!! you got to make characters to represent your family members. you can even do pets. i had so much fun creating us! they turned out really neat, i just had to show them off. so i scanned in the notepad and ...check "us" out:the notepad says a note from the bergquist family at the top, and then has us on the bottom. the address labels are way cool too! be looking for them on your christmas cards! so now to the best part, these were FREE! all i had to pay was shipping which wasn't much! i ordered the notepad, the address labels, a set of 10 magnetic calendars, and a tshirt all for $8 shipping. i chose the cheapest 21 day shipping, but it all came within 10 days. so if you think you would have fun creating your family go check out http://www.vistaprint.com/ and no i don't get credit for this or anything, i just thought they were really cool and wanted to pass along the deal! the company is offering 10 free items right now...so check them out!

it's begining to look alot like christmas...

i love christmas time!!! saturday after we were all unpacked from our trip we started pulling out the christmas stuff. it's never too early, in fact i keep my nativity set up year round! mostly because i think it is too beautiful to go in a box! thanks to dave i now have the complete set. it's the set by willow tree, very nice, and every year for my birthday dave has given me a few new pieces. this year, he completed the set. it's so simple, yet so defined...i love it! anyways, back to the story at hand...we got out the christmas stuff and began the decorating. the tree is up, the stockings are hung and it's wonderful. we topped the afternoon off with hot chocolate and christmas music. i think the best part of the day was jimmy, we have recently nicknamed him the "party planner" he loves to be in charge and direct and organize everything!!! and he was in full force saturday as we decorated. in fact that night we had friends over, and first thing he did was show them around and point out all the decorations. later when we put him to bed he began crying because he was going to miss the party he spent all day preparing for. it was really cute!!!

thanksgiving

we had a wonderful thanksgiving this year. we had the opportunity to be at my parents house in houston. mom and dad, laura and lesley (her best friend & practically sister), all of us, and cousin davids family all were there. there was lots of cooking, and a most wonderful feast! lots of laughing, and lots of love! i was thankful for a place to be, thankful for family, thankful for friends, and thankful for all that we have! the kids had lots of fun getting to know their cousins and playing hard. when it was all over they didn't want to leave, and begged to stay at nana and papa's house. thanks mom and dad!!!
early friday morning (4:30am) dave and i headed out to toys'r'us to face the crazy shoppers and buy the "santa" gift. an hour and much craziness later we were succesful! we have secured a cool swingset for the kids to recieve christmas morning and we got it at half price! which for all of those who know me, that is an important factor.

our first

so...i've been having sooo much fun reading other blogs of friends and family...that i've decided to start my own for our family. so here it goes, our first post.

i think i will make mention of our recent parties, it was cake week at our house. quite literally. on monday the 5th it was my bday, dave & the kids made me a cake... the kids had lots of fun with the sprinkles! it was a yummy chocolate with chocolate frosting.

then on wednesday i made a cake for a church function. addy loved it and refered to it as her castle cake. she was sad to see it go...

then on thursday the 8th it was addy's bday so i made her a castle cake of her own. she was very excited! it was red velvet with white frosting. real rich.

laura came that night, and we made her a cake too, since she didn't get a bday cake on monday. her cake was yellow with chocolate frosting...her favorite!
then on saturday the 10th i made addy's bday party cake, it was an ariel cake. it looked cool, and was yummy too. it was a white cake with lemon filling, and white frosting. but honestly i was so sick of cake i barely could finish my piece! needless to say at this point we had a nice cake buffet for the party guests to choose from.

it was a fun week! mom was here the whole week and she taught me how to make christmas stockings. we made 10 in total, 9 for dave's family, and timmy's. thanks mom!

it was a great week! thanks to everyone for all the bday wishes we recieved!!!
