A Day at the Beach

Today we went down to Galveston. It's only about 15 minutes from my parents house which is very nice. We all had so much fun! We fed the birds, we built sand castles, saw horses and of course played in the water. Jimmy surprised me by actually wanting to go out in the water. On our last visit to the beach he was content to stay in the sand. Addy of course was all about getting in the water. It was keeping her close that was the problem, she is TOO independent! It was Timmy's first time at the beach, his favorite part was knocking down sand as soon as anyone could dump it out. Towards the end he started putting handfuls of sand in his mouth, YUCK! At that we knew it was time to go and get the kids some lunch! Thanks Mom & Laura for sharing such a fun day with us!

And Dave/Daddy We'll be seeing you soon!!!

Day 3

Today we hung around the house in the morning. At lunch time Nana took the kids up in the attic for a picnic and to read a chapter in their new magic tree house book. They loved it! In the afternoon we found a great patch of bluebonnets for picture taking. Then we headed out to Irving to see Aunt Jennifer. We played at a park, had dinner, and took a walk by a stream. Another fun filled day!

WE LOVE YOU DADDY!

Our Trip... so far

So far we are half way through day 2 of our trip, and we have done a lot! First stop was to see Uncle Stephen in San Marcos. That was fun, the kids got to play guitar, and there were some pretty flowers out back. Next stop was in Round Rock to see the cousins. The kids played hard and burned off some energy. Tried to get pics of them...first one they were wrestling. Second and third Addy and Timmy were both wailing. Oh well. Then we finally made it to Nana & Papa's in Cedar Hill. This morning Nana took Jimmy & Addy on a treasure hunt. They LOVED it! She made them a map and everything. They got lots of fun "treasure" including chocolate coins, fruit snacks, granola bars, some money, and some toy snakes. Thanks Nana! That brings us to now Timmy is napping, Jimmy is with Nana running errands, and Addy is trying to help me blog. Hope everyone is doing well! And Dave/Daddy WE MISS YOU!!!

the RUG

ok so funny thing we bought a rug we liked and came home and it looked so silly. explanation we bought a 5x7 thinking yea that's big, but no didn't even cover half the floor. so i went back last night and exchanged it for the next size up. so here are the pictures of the "new" living room from all angles. i forgot to take before pictures sorry, but believe me it's a world of difference. so far i'm lovin' it and there is more to come. i'm going to visit my mom, and she is going to help me make some new throw pillows for the couches to tie in some of the other rug colors. thanks mom!!! who knows maybe i'll even get adventurous and do curtains when i get back!

Motivation

I forgot to mention in the last post that the papisan cushion came out CLEAN!!! Yea! So although it caused unplanned work in other areas, the original goal was accomplished! So now the clean chair has motivated me to clean up the rest of the living room. My idea,
1 bring down the green couches which currently reside upstairs to replace the "ugly" south west pattern couches that are in the living room and
2 find a rug that will cover up the worn out carpet and bring some new color to the room

It is now almost 3 in the afternoon and here is where I stand on my new goal. The "ugly'" ones have been pushed aside for now. The green love seat has been moved downstairs and cleaned, the green couch has made it to the stairwell (I need help with that one) and the cushions on it have been cleaned. And tonight Dave (the super guy that he is) offered to take me out rug shopping! YEA looking forward to that!

Now the question at hand is what to do with the "ugly" couches. Do I want to haul them upstairs (we've had a couch in our room, and the love seat in the guest room), or do I want to open up the space in the upstairs and just get rid of these couches...They really are good couches, and had been in better shape, that's why I had them downstairs...but I've never liked them (ask my mom about my temper tantrum at age 16 in the middle of Lacks HA HA!). So I had planned on buying covers for them...but they are odd with wide arms and things, and the covers didn't work. I tried 3 different brand/styles, and so then We just left them there how they were. So now what? I don't know.

Well those are my random furniture thoughts for the day. Stay tuned for pictures coming soon!

My Mishap

Ok so today was going good! I had the kids dressed, I even fought the battle with Addy to do her hair! I took pictures because I thought she looked way cute! This is a daily struggle that I usually leave alone, but today I thought I needed to put her hair up because this recent heat has given her quite the rash on her neck. That being said here are her pictures!

I had all the stuff ready for this afternoon, I had showered and put on nice clothes, and was making the kids some mac & cheese for lunch...this is where it all goes down hill. I handed the box to Addy and asked her to go throw it away. That is when I heard a thud with a splash, and an "OW". Odd combination so I go to the laundry room/pantry to check on her. She was now drenced and sitting in standing water. So first sad thing all that effort to get her dressed and hair done, now I had to strip her down and totally messed up her hair in the process (I'm so vain sometimes). Now the bigger issue at hand where the heck is the water coming from? Then I remember...

This morning I was sitting in my living room staring at our papisan chair, feeling disgusted by the cushions appearance. It is an off white color originally that was presently looking GROSS. Three kids tend to have that effect on stuff I guess, but it really shows on white shades. So I had decided to shove it in my washer for a good cleaning. I started it up, and checked on it a few times, since it was too big for my washer, but it went through the whole cycle fine. Feeling rather pleased with myself I opened the washer to check it. This is when I noticed only the bottom 3/4 was clean and the top 1/4 was still dirty. I figured it was sticking up during the wash. So I think no problem, lets just flip it over and get the other end clean. And so I did. Since it had gone through the first time with no issues, I thought nothing of and left after starting. Having completely forgotten all of this, until now...as I am standing in water stripping Addy down.

So I got her redressed, not nearly as cute, and hair a mess. Put the now ready mac & chesse in bowls for them and set out to clean up my mess. I had to shut myself in the room so the kids didn't get dirty. This is where it got sad, Timmy has been rather clingy lately and laid in front of the door crying his eyes out the entire time I was cleaning. Then there was Jimmy knocking on the door saying "Timmy needs You". Yea, thanks for the update Jimmy. So slowy but surely the mess gets cleaned up. I had to pull out the washer and dryer and clean under and behind them. I had to shift all the pantry stuff on the floor around to clean it. I opened the door to the garage to throw out some stuff only to see trails of water in there too. The water went over the door ledge, oh fun. Luckily no damage out there, just threw out a few cardboard boxes that got soaked. On an upside I can say my laundry/pantry room is sparkling (the floor anyways). So, now that I've dirtied every towel in my house cleaning up I am all gross now and in need of another shower.

So today my life lesson learned is not to be such a cheap skate and next time take the big bulky item to the cleaners.

Since I had the camera out from Addy's pictures earlier I decided to photo document the mishap, here are a few shots.

Girl Night!

Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to head out for a girl's night! It was GREAT! I love that my husband is soooo understanding to my needs for "non-kid" time. He is wonderful! So we didn't do anything spectacular, wandered 2 targets, a home goods store, and grabbed some slushies...BUT it was so much FUN! To just wander aimlessly and look at stuff that I wanted to look at without hearing, "I wanna see the toys!" or "I wanna go home!" every 10 seconds. Oh and to be able to actually enter a store with breakables (the home goods store) was great! And of course the company, Thanks Desi! And if anyone is up for a fun treat go try the slushies at Taco Cabana. I recommend the Strawberry Lemonade.
